D.C. United to face New England in U.S. Open Cup semifinal

Washington, D.C. (July 15, 2008) - D.C. United today announced ticket information for their Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinal match against the New England Revolution. The Black-and-Red will host the Revolution at RFK Stadium on Tuesday, August 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Individual tickets for the semifinal match are available for $20 at the Spectator level, $28 at the Premium level, $35 at the VIP level and $50 at the Mezzanine level. Groups of ten or more can receive discounts at all seating levels. United planholders will receive a special discounted price and should contact D.C. United by calling (202) 587-5000. Individual tickets can be purchased online through www.dcunited.com or by calling the D.C. United offices.

D.C. United advanced to the semifinal of the U.S. Open Cup last week by defeating the Chicago Fire 2-1 in extra time in the quarterfinal match-up at the Maryland Soccerplex. The match marked United's first win over the Fire in a knockout competition. New England advanced to the semifinal by defeating Crystal Palace Baltimore (USL-2) in a penalty kick shootout 5-3 after the game ended regulation at a 1-1 draw.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is an annual national competition that is open to all amateur and professional soccer teams that are affiliated with U.S. Soccer. It is the oldest tournament in the U.S., beginning in 1914 when Brooklyn Field Club took home the very first title. MLS teams were first included in the tournament in the inaugural 1996 season, with D.C. United taking home the title.
