D.C. United to auction off game-worn jerseys during Sunday's playoff match

Washington, D.C. (October 25, 2005) - D.C. United, in partnership with its non-profit arm, United for D.C., will be holding a silent auction of 2006 game-worn United jerseys during Sunday's playoff game against the New York Red Bulls. All proceeds will benefit United for D.C. and its programs. Jerseys to be auctioned include game-worn attire autographed by Freddy Adu, Bobby Boswell, Brian Carroll, Facundo Erpen, Christian Gomez, Josh Gros, Jaime Moreno, Bryan Namoff, Ben Olsen, Troy Perkins and Alecko Eskandarian. Sunday's game kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on espn2.

"Our 'Man of the Match' auctions have been a great success throughout the regular season," said Stephen Zack, D.C. United Sr. Vice President and President of the United for D.C. Board of Directors. "United's great supporters have contributed generously all year in support of our charitable initiatives. We hope for continued success both on and off of the field this weekend."

The silent auction, which will take place on RFK Stadium's concourse just inside of the Main Gate, will begin when gates open at 4:00 p.m. before the game. Bids on all jerseys will be accepted through the end of halftime. Minimum bids begin at $150.00. Cash, credit or check payments will be accepted at the auction. All funds raised from the auction will assist United for D.C. with operating its United Reads, Kicks for Kids, United Community Grants and United Soccer Club programs.
