Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, October 25, 2006) - Following its 2-1 win over the Houston Dynamo last Sunday at The Home Depot Center, Chivas USA travels to Texas for Game 2 of the two-game Western Conference Semifinal Series this Sunday, October 29 at 5:00 p.m. PT (7:00 p.m. CT) at the University of Houston's Robertson Stadium (TV: FSN PRIME TICKET, Fox Soccer Channel, HDNet, tape-delayed on Fox Sports en Español; Radio: KTNQ 1020 AM Univision Radio; Web: MLSLIVE.tv). Chivas USA claimed victory in the first leg of the series, on goals by Ante Razov and Juan Francisco Palencia, with Brad Guzan's heroic late-game penalty kick save preserving the win for the Red-and-White. For information on Chivas USA's Quest for the MLS Cup, as well as 2007 season tickets, please call 1-877-CHIVAS-1.
CHIVAS USA SCHEDULE: After a deserved day off, Chivas USA resumed training Wednesday at The Home Depot Center. Chivas USA trains Thursday and Friday at 10:00 a.m. on Field 4, before departing Friday afternoon for Houston. Players and coaches will be available to the media following the team's 8:05 p.m. CT arrival at George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport (Continental # 594 from LAX) and upon arrival at the J.W. Marriott Hotel. There will also be media availability after Chivas USA's Saturday training session, scheduled for 12 noon CT on the Carl Lewis Track Field on the campus of the University of Houston. Please see full team schedule below.
PLAYOFFS OVERVIEW: Sunday's match marks Game 2 in the two-game Western Conference Semifinal Series. The team that scores the most goals in the home-and-home, aggregate goals series advances to the Western Conference Championship. As such, Chivas USA, with a 2-1 lead in the series, would advance with a win or a draw Sunday. If the series is tied after 90 minutes in Houston (if the Dynamo win 1-0, 2-1, etc.), two full 15-minute overtime periods will be played, followed by penalty kicks if necessary. Should Chivas USA advance, the single-game Western Conference Championship would be held at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas on Saturday, November 4 (vs. FC Dallas), or at The Home Depot Center on Sunday, November 5 (vs. Colorado Rapids).
