Washington, D.C. (July 1, 2010) - D.C. United announced today the club has signed Argentine forward Pablo Hernandez. The 23-year old joins United on loan from Club Defensor Sporting of the Uruguayan first division and will be available upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa.
"Pablo is a talented young striker with a big upside and we are excited to welcome him to our team," said United General Manager Dave Kasper. "He is a very technical player with great athletic qualities who makes things happen around the goal."
Hernandez has been training with D.C. United for several weeks and is expected to be available for the team's July 15 game against Seattle Sounders FC at RFK Stadium. Hernandez spent the 2009-10 season with Defensor Sporting, seeing time in 11 games and scoring three goals. Hernandez began his professional career at 18-years old with Atletico Tucuman, then of the Argentina third division. He spent two seasons with the Argentine club, helping it earn promotion after the 2007-08 season, scoring 11 goals as the team climbed into the second division.
