
D.C. United, Shoppers Team up to Deliver Thanksgiving Meals to Families in Ward 6 & 7

Washington, D.C. (Nov. 11, 2014) - D.C. United has teamed with Shoppers and Sasha Bruce Youthwork to provide 100 families with a complete Thanksgiving food basket on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 4-6 p.m. at Randall Recreation Center in Southwest Washington. The food baskets, provided courtesy of Shoppers, will go to deserving families in Ward 6 & 7 who have been selected by Sasha Bruce Youthwork. The program is one of a number of D.C. United initiatives during the busy holiday season.
D.C. United's service to the community continues throughout the offseason. After partnering with different organizations each month during the 2014 campaign through its D.C. United Drives program, the team will host a toy drive from Nov. 24 - Dec. 24 that will benefit numerous organizations in the D.C. metropolitan area. Donations can me made at D.C. United's administrative office located on the 4th Floor of RFK Stadium. Those making a donation will be entered into a drawing that includes a 2014 team signed jersey and ball.
On Dec. 17, D.C. United will partner with the Salvation Army National Capital Area Command as part of its Angel Tree Toy distribution program. United's front office staff will participate in the program's 2014 Ribbon Cutting ceremony and will volunteer to distribute gifts to registered families.
