
LA Galaxy to Face Seattle Sounders FC in 2014 Western Conference Championship

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Nov. 10, 2014) - The LA Galaxy will face Seattle Sounders FC in the 2014 Western Conference Championship, a two-legged series with a chance to advance to the MLS Cup Final. The Galaxy will host series' first leg at StubHub Center Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. PT with the second leg set for Sunday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. PT at CenturyLink Field. Both games broadcasted live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.
Tickets for the Galaxy's matchup against the Sounders at StubHub Center Sunday, Nov. 23 are on sale now. Fans can purchase tickets by calling 877-3GALAXY (342-5299) or visiting www.lagalaxy.com/playoffs.
In a contest between the top two-seeded teams in the MLS Cup Playoffs, the Galaxy will face the Sounders for the fourth and fifth times of 2014, going 1-1-1 in the previous three matches during the MLS Regular Season. In four postseason meetings all time, LA has compiled a 3-1-0 record against their Western Conference counterparts, scoring seven times while allowing just three goals.
With a 28-9-5 record all-time in the MLS Cup Playoffs, LA Galaxy Head Coach Bruce Arena is the winningest coach in MLS playoff history. Seattle Sounders Head Coach Sigi Schmid is the second-winningest coach in the MLS postseason, compiling a 23-14-8 record.
Since 1996, the LA Galaxy have made 66 MLS Cup Playoff appearances with a 40-19-7 record while scoring 112 goals. In Western Conference finals, the club has gone 13-7-2. Since the start of the 2009 season, the Galaxy have hosted 13 playoff games in Carson, including MLS Cup 2011 and 2012. In those 13 games, the Galaxy are 11-2-0 and 27-5-1 all-time in home playoff games.
