
Houston Dynamo to Compete in Carolina Challenge Cup, Desert Friendlies

HOUSTON (Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014) - The Houston Dynamo will compete in the Carolina Challenge Cup and the Desert Friendlies next February as part of the 2015 preseason. This marks the third consecutive year in which the Dynamo will spend a portion of their preseason in Tucson, Arizona and Charleston, South Carolina.
The Desert Friendlies, hosted by PDL club FC Tucson, are held at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson. The Dynamo will face the San Jose Earthquakes (Feb. 4), Portland Timbers (Feb. 7) and Vancouver Whitecaps FC (Feb. 10), with training held throughout the remainder of the trip.
To close the preseason, the Dynamo will return to the Carolina Challenge Cup for the third straight season, and sixth year overall. The Challenge Cup, set for its 12th edition in 2015, is hosted by the Charleston Battery of USL PRO at Blackbaud Stadium. The four-team competition includes both 2015 MLS Expansion clubs, Orlando City SC and New York City FC.
The Dynamo will schedule several addition preseason games to be held at Houston Sports Park. The full preseason schedule will be announced at a later date.
