Washington, D.C. (April 9, 2008) - D.C. United has been named as one of four finalists for the 2008 Turnkey PRISM Award, an honor which recognizes American professional sport franchises that demonstrate industry-leading excellence and innovation in sport franchise management. Given by the University of Massachusetts' Department of Sport Management, the winner will be named later in the spring.

"I've long said that we have the best staff in professional sports here at D.C. United and I'm happy that those who give so much to the club are being recognized for their work," said United President and CEO Kevin Payne.

United was also a finalist for the annual award in 2005, 2006 and 2007, which is presented to the major league team that best exemplifies the PRISM ideals across five criteria: managing human resources, marketing (branding, advertising and promotion), fan development, community relations and customer/client service. Last season, the club received an honorable mention for their community relations efforts.
