Revolution Adds SuperDraft Pick Britner

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution today announced that defender Matthew Britner has signed a Major League Soccer contract to play for the Revs. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not released. Britner, a native of Canada, will also occupy one of the team's eight international roster spots and will also fill one of the team's 10 developmental roster slots.

Britner, 22, was chosen by New England in the third round (41st overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft out of Brown University. A two-time All-Ivy League selection and the 2007 Ivy League Player of the Year, Britner started 53 of the 54 games in which he appeared for Brown and recorded three goals and one assist in his five-year intercollegiate career. He was also a member of Canada's Under-20 World Cup squad in 2005 and has played for numerous other Canadian youth national teams.

The Revolution face the Kansas City Wizards tonight at 8 p.m. ET at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan. TV38 will televise the game live, while WRKO 680 AM will carry the game on the radio tape-delayed following tonight's Celtics game (approximately 9:30 p.m.). The Revs return home on Saturday, April 12, when they host the Colorado Rapids at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. and TV38 will televise the game live.
