D.C. United News Release
Washington, DC. - D.C. United announced today the kickoff event for the âSafety Excellence at Work and Play' initiative, in association with, and hosted by James G. Davis Construction Corporation (DAVIS). The event was held on Tuesday, May 6 at 3:00 p.m. at Constitution Center, one of DAVIS' largest job sites in the District. This program was created through the collaborative efforts of D.C. United and DAVIS, and serves to promote jobsite safety practices and awareness.
"We have such a large team at Constitution Center, who have consistently shown that they not only embrace DAVIS' commitment to safety, but they champion the practices on site every day, this a small way of thanking and recognizing these guys," said DAVIS' Director of Safety Mike McCaffrey.
The kickoff event will feature player appearances from Fred and Franco Niell and the new banner advertising the partnership between DAVIS and D.C. United will be displayed on site for the rest of the 2008 season. Through this partnership, DAVIS recognizes safety "champions" by giving them great tickets to D.C. United games.
"We recognized that we have so many D.C. United fans on site, it made sense for the program to feature weekly ticket giveaways - in fact we are giving away 250 tickets at the launch on May 6th!," McCaffrey said.
DAVIS is one of the largest general contractors in the area, and Constitution Center is the largest privately owned building renovation in the District, employing a team of more than 300 at any given time. For more information, visit www.davisconstruction.com.
