Fire Forward Chris Rolfe Wins Goal Of The Week Award

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (May 7, 2008) - Chicago Fire forward Chris Rolfe has won the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week for his goal last Saturday in the club's 3-0 win at New England.

Rolfe started Chicago on the right foot when midfielder John Thorrington slipped a 20-yard pass to Rolfe at the top of the 18-yard box. Rolfe took a touch and ripped a right-footed strike into the lower left corner for his first goal of the season.

Rolfe last won the "Goal of the Week" in the Week 25 of 2007 when found the back of the net from 30 yards out with a right-footed laser in a 1-1 tie at FC Dallas on 9/20/07.

The Chicago Fire (4-1-1, 13 pts.) return to the road for their second road game in six days against D.C. United (2-4-0, 6 pts.) on Thursday, May 8, at RFK Stadium in the nation's capital. Kickoff for the match is set for 6:30 p.m. CT. Thursday's game will be televised by ESPN2 and will be on Chicagoland radio station WNVR 1030-AM (POL).
