WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 15, 2008) - D.C. United announced today the club has acquired defender Ryan Miller after he was waived by the Columbus Crew. The 23-year old was originally drafted by Columbus in the third round (31st overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft.

"We are pleased to have picked up Ryan off of waivers," said United General Manager, Dave Kasper. "He has very good athletic qualities and he will provide us with cover in the midfield and at the back."

Miller did not see any first team action with the Crew but contributed to seven Reserve Division matches (four starts) this season. He finished his collegiate career in 2007, after four seasons at Notre Dame. During his senior year, he scored six goals and added four assists on his way to being named to the NSCAA All-America second team, the All-Big East first team and the Big East All-Tournament Team. Over his four seasons, Miller started 90 of 91 games he appeared in for the Fighting Irish.
