
D.C. United Acquire Defender Garrison Tubbs from Atlanta United

WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. Unitedhave acquired defender Garrison Tubbs from Atlanta United in exchange for $125,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money. Atlanta will retain a sell-on percentage for Tubbs.
"We are getting a young defender with a high ceiling for growth and development in Garrison [Tubbs]," Ally Mackay, D.C. United General Manager and Chief Soccer Officer, said. "He's coming off an impressive season with Wake Forest and he has all the tools necessary to be a great defender in this league. We're excited to bring him to the nation's capital."
Tubbs played for Wake Forest in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) from 2020-2023. The defender scored once in 18 total matches for the Deacons last season. Tubbs captained the Wake Forest side and was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a finalist for the 2023 Mac Hermann Trophy. Tubbs was a part of the backline that recorded seven clean sheets in 2023.
The defender spent four seasons with Wake Forest, amassing three goals and recording five assists in 68 appearances (66 starts).
Prior to college, Tubbs was a member of Atlanta United's U-17s, U-19s, and played 12 matches with Atlanta United 2 in the USL Championship. His professional debut came on July 28, 2019 when he came on as a substitute against North Carolina FC. His first start came about a month later on Aug. 24 against Hartford Athletic. He made 10 starts in his 12 appearances with ATL UTD 2.
