Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

Brooklyn, NY -- The Cyclones (23-15) took the series finale from the Hudson Valley Renegades by the score of 10-3. Joe Holden and Kyle Brown were the offensive catalysts for the Cyclones, combining to go 3-for-7 with two runs scored and four RBI from atop the Cyclones lineup. Jorge Reyes (3-2) got the win for Brooklyn after allowing only two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out three, through his five innings of work.

The Cyclones once again overcame an early deficit on Saturday night after the Renegades took a 1-0 lead. The Renegades loaded the bases with nobody out in the first, but Jorge Reyes managed to wiggle out of the jam, holding the Renegades to only one run. The Hudson Valley lead was short-lived however, because in the bottom of the second the Brooklyn bats exploded. Josh Petersen started the rally with a single and came all the way around to score when the next batter, Nick Evans, doubled into the right-centerfield gap. Later in the inning, Drew Butera walked and Yury Santana was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Joe Holden, who kept up his sizzling hitting streak by unloading a bases clearing triple into right field. Kyle Brown capped the rally with an RBI single to plate Holden and give the Cyclones a 5-1 edge.

The Renegades cut into the lead in the third inning, courtesy of a J.T Hall solo home run that made the score 5-2. Brooklyn responded with a single run in the fourth, when Jon Malo scored on a double-play, and another run in the fifth courtesy of Kyle Brown's hustle. Brown raced out of the box, creating a double on a line drive to left-centerfield, and when Kyle advanced to third on a grounder to the left side of the infield, the Renegades attempt to nab him off the base trickled away from the Hudson Valley fielders and allowed Brown to score and push the Brooklyn lead to 7-2. The Renegades chopped away again scoring once in the sixth, but in the eighth the Cyclones tacked on three insurance runs to put the game away. Jesus Gamero singled and Nick Evans walked to start the threat, and both runners would come around to score on a Jon Malo triple. Malo would later come home on a wild pitch to cap the scoring in the Cyclones 10-3 victory over the Renegades

The Cyclones head to Lowell to take on the Spinners in a three game set, beginning tomorrow night at 5:05pm. The Cyclones will return to KeySpan Park on Thursday, August 4th, to square off with the Vermont Expos at 7:00pm. Thursday will be "Jewish Heritage Night" at KeySpan Park and fans are encouraged to arrive early and help the Cyclones set the world record for the world's largest Hora dance.
