Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
THIS PAST WEEK:
About Last Saturday vs. Reading: A three-point night by Jack Combs and a lights-out performance from goaltender Joe Howe lifted the Cyclones past the Royals by a 6-2 final score in front of a near sellout crowd of 13,237 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night. The attendance was the most in club history and was less than 300 shy of the all-time record, including playoffs.
About Last Friday Night in Kalamazoo: Defenseman Zach Miskovic buried his first game-winning goal of the season as the Cyclones rang in 2014 with a 2-1 overtime win over the Wings in front of 1,913 at Wings Stadium. Joe Howe was magnificent, making 29 saves to remain unbeaten in regulation while Jack Combs extended his goal-scoring streak to five consecutive games.
About New Years Eve in Kalamazoo: The Cyclones nearly capped off another impressive late-game rally, however, the Wings were able to prevent an equalizer to earn a 4-3 win in front of 3,540 at Wings Stadium. Paul Crowder, Dan Eves, and Jack Combs all scored goals for the Cyclones, who had their winning streak halted at four games.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT:
Almost Halfway: With two more triumphs last week, the Cyclones become one of just four teams to have eclipsed the 20-win plateau and now close in on the regular season's halfway point. This Thursday, Cincinnati will hit the road to visit the Wheeling Nailers before coming back home on Friday night to host the Kalamazoo Wings at U.S. Bank Arena. The first 2,000 fans through the doors will receive a FREE Cyclones Winter Hat courtesy of Sport Clips.
Milestone Achieved: With their victory last Saturday over Reading, the Cyclones eclipsed the 20-win plateau. Only three other teams in club history reached the milestone earlier. The 2007-08 team was the fastest to earn their 20th victory, accomplishing it on December 22.
Combing Through the Competition: Cincy forward Jack Combs has scored goals in each of his last six games - the league's longest active streak. His two-goal performance on Saturday was the third time he had multiple lamplighters. He was nominated for the ECHL Player of the Week.
