WILMINGTON, DE - The Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, opened the 2022 season with a doubleheader against the Wilmington Blue Rocks splitting a twin-bill with a 5-1 loss before a 2-1 victory Saturday night at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium.
GAME ONE - Wilmington 5, Brooklyn 1 (7)
Win: Knowles (1-0) | Loss: Santos (0-1)
KEY PLAYS
Mitchell Parker, the Nationals No. 16 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, struck out five over the first four innings in the no-decision. Following an earned run allowed in the first inning, Parker did not allow a hit over his final three frames.
Wilmington turned around an early 1-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the first inning against Cyclones starter Junior Santos. Yasel Antuna's RBI single highlighted the inning.
Jose Peroza's RBI single to center field plated Wilmer Reyes in the first inning, giving the Cyclones an early 1-0 lead.

Rowdey Jordan clobbered a two-run triple to dead-center field in the top of the fifth inning, driving in Nic Gaddis and Joe Suozzi to give the Cyclones a 2-0 lead.
Jose Chacin struck out seven Blue Rocks over four scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk in the no-decision start.
Justin Courtney struck out Cody Wilson with runners at first and second base in the seventh inning, locking down Brooklyn's first win of the season.
