WHEELING, West Virginia - Barret Ehgoetz scored with 45 seconds remaining to give the Cincinnati Cyclones a 2-1 win at Wheeling on Friday night. With the win, the Cyclones take a three games to two lead in the best of seven North Division semifinal. Rookie Mike Quesnele's first pro goal earlier in the period evened the scores at 1-1. It was the second third period rally for a victory by the Cyclones in this series. All three Cincinnati wins have come in Wheeling.

For only the fifth time in ECHL playoff history, the road team in a best of seven series has now won five games. It is only the second time in league history that it has occurred in the first five games of a series (2000 Kelly Cup Finals between Louisiana and Peoria). It is only the second time in Cyclones history that the club has won three straight games at WesBanco Arena.

The first period had no scoring, but the physical nature of the contest was evident as there were four power plays awarded in the opening frame-three to Wheeling. The shots on goal favored the Cyclones, 13-6.

Wheeling scored the only goal of the second period when Chris Snavely headed down the right wing side and took a feed from Tommy Goebel and netted his first score of the playoffs. It was a power play goal at 15:11, as Jason Woll was serving a tripping penalty. The shots on goal favored Cincinnati, 10-7, in the period.

In the third period, at 9:14, rookie Mike Quesnele fired a puck off the right half wall that deflected off a Wheeling defender in front of the net and bounced into the cage. The goal was assisted by Mac Faulkner and Justin Johnson had the assists. The game winning goal came at 19:15, after a Wheeling clearance went deep in the Cincinnati end. Loic Lacasse grabbed the puck and fired it from the left corner to the blueline in the Wheeling end, right wing side, to Syroczynski. Syroczynski fed it into the high slot to Ehgoetz, who dangled the puck and broke in on Curtis Darling beating him on the backhand at the right post for his second of the postseason. The shots in the third favored the Cyclones again, 12-11. Cincinnati won the shot battle for the game at 35-24.

Loic Lacasse stopped 23 of 24 shots for the win, his third of the playoffs and added an assist. Curtis Darling took his third straight defeat, turning aside 33 shots. Wheeling was one-for-five on the power play, while Cincinnati was zero-for-four.

The sixth game of the best-of-seven series will be Saturday night (April 18). It will be played at U.S. Bank Arena. This will be a 7:30pm contest and will be carried on www.cycloneshockey.com. If a seventh game is needed, it will be played on Monday, April 20 at U.S. Bank Arena.
