Cutthroats Lose in Wichita by a 7-0 Final

WICHITA, Kan. - A five-point night by Greger Hanson paced the Wichita Thunder offense to a 7-0 shutout win over the Denver Cutthroats on Saturday night in front of 7,222 at Intrust Bank Arena.

The loss was the first shutout suffered by the Cutthroats (21-16-4) in franchise history. The loss also brought AJ Gale's point streak to an end at six games.

Hanson scored a natural hat trick in the second period and tallied assists on RG Flath's goals at 8:56 of the first period and 6:59 of the third. Flath also tallied two assists for a four-point night for the Thunder (24-14-3).

Matt Robinson opened up the scoring at 6:04 of the first to give Wichita a 1-0 lead before Flath's first goal. Ian Lowe also scored 41 seconds into the second to make it a 3-0 game - 16 seconds before Hanson began his hat trick performance in the period.

Kent Patterson started the game for the Cutthroats but was pulled early in the second for Kieran Millan after stopping nine of 13 shots. Millan finished 11 of 14 for the Fish in just over 39 minutes of play. Wichita's Torrie Jung turned aside 14 shots in the shutout win.

The Cutthroats power-play goal streak ended at three games after a 0-for-6 night. Wichita went 0-for-2.

The Cutthroats close out their three-game weekend on Sunday with another matchup against the Thunder. Puck drop is set for 4:05 PM MST.
