Sundogs Handed 5-0 Shutout Loss by Mallards

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs were handed a 5-0 shutout loss by the Quad City Mallards Friday night at Tim's Toyota center.

The Quad City Mallards picked up a shutout win against the Arizona Sundogs, tallying their five goals in the first 40 minutes. Obi Aduba scored the Mallards first two goals both in the opening frame. Aduba's first goal came on the power play 7:51 into the first period after the Sundogs Zack Firlotte served two minutes for a too many men, bench minor. Bob Preece and Matt Duffy were both credited with the assists. Less than eight minutes later Aduba scored again, logging his 11th goal of the season and his second of the night.

The Mallards sealed the Sundogs' fate scoring three goals in the second period and extended their lead to five points. Patrik Levesque lit the lamp just 19 seconds into the second period while Aduba collected his third point of the game. Gabriel Boutin-Gagnon and Jason Kostadine collected Quad City's final two goals.

Adam Russo took the loss for the Sundogs with 23 saves. Arizona outshot Quad City 33-28. The Sundogs were 0-4 on the power play and the Mallards were 1-6 on power play. Both teams will meet again tomorrow at Tim's Toyota Center and conclude their two-game set.
