Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - The Brahmas defeated the Rapid City Rush by the score of 3-2 Saturday night behind the team's second consecutive third-period comeback.

John Snowden continued his stellar play, putting the Brahmas up 1-0 at the 12:19 mark of the first period with a wrister from the slot that beat Rapid City netminder Tim Boron. For Snowden, the power-play score was his 12th goal in the last nine games.

Jamie VanderVeeken evened the score before the end of the first period with his fifth goal of the season and first since joining the Rush.

Rapid City grabbed a 2-1 edge at the 17:16 mark of the second period when Justin Faryna jabbed home a loose puck in front of the net.

For the second consecutive night, the Brahmas entered the third frame down a goal and answered with a strong period. Shawn Szydlowski evened the game at 2-2 at the 7:11 mark when he buried home a rebound off of Austin Mayer's first attempt. Szydlowski, who scored the game-winner in the shootout a night ago, now has six goals on the season.

With just 7:06 remaining in regulation, Riley Boychuk found the back of the net off of another rebound, this time off of Calin Wild's initial shot, to take the 3-2 lead. Fort Worth held on for the remainder of regulation, giving Boychuk his second game-winning goal of the season.

Kristofer Westblom made 21 saves on 23 shots in net for the Brahmas, improving to 14-5-2 this season. Boron stopped 27 of 30 between the pipes for Rapid City.

With the win, the Brahmas are now 3-0-0 versus the Rush this season.

Fort Worth hits the road to take on the Allen Americans Tuesday, January 29 at the Allen Event Center. The Brahmas are back at the NYTEX Sports Centre Friday, February 1 to face off against the Rush for the fourth time this season.
