Cutters win in Brooklyn
July 15, 2005 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
For the first time this season, the Williamsport Crosscutters have strung together three straight wins, after a 7-3 victory in Brooklyn on Friday night. The winning streak saved what could have been a disastrous road trip after the Cutters lost three straight to the McNamara leading Staten Island Yankees. The victory gave Williamsport a .500 record (3-3) on their 6-game road swing and recorded their first series sweep of the 2005 campaign while evening their overall record to 12-12. The game was marked by another outstanding mound performance by a Cutters starting pitcher. Starter Luis Munoz went 6.0 innings giving up just 1 run on 2 hits. Offensively, OF James Boone had a 2-out double in the 5th driving home 2 runs and SS Brett Lillibridge hit his fourth homer of the year in the 9th inning, a 3-run shot that gave the Cutters a little more breathing room. The squad returns home to begin a 6-game home stand Saturday against Vermont who is in last-place in the NY-P's Stedler Division.
