Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Crosscutters offense was held in check, falling 2-0 to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
The Crosscutters managed just four hits, by four different batters, in the losing effort. Stranding four runners on base and going 0 for 3 with runners in scoring position. Ben Pelletier had the only extra base hit, his team leading 11th double.
Manuel Silva allowed two runs over 4.1 innings of work, surrendering five hits and three walks while striking out six. Robinson Martinez and Jose Jimenez combined to throw 4.2 innings of shutout relief, striking out six. The Cutters pitchers combined to strike out 12 Scrappers batters.
The Crosscutters have been shutout three times this season. Williamsport is now 3-7 against the Scrappers this season, with five more meetings.
