Yankees Drop Series Opener to Lowell 3-1 in Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND--The Yankees fell to the Lowell Spinners 3-1 in game one of a three-game set at Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Wednesday night.
Lowell was paced by home runs from Tyler Dearden and Lane Milligan that ended up being enough to finish off the win.
Harold Cortijo was strong for the Yankees on the mound as he went 6.2 innings, struck out a team-high 11 batters and kept the Yankees in the game.
Kyle Gray hit a home run for Staten Island that was the team's only run of the night.
Lowell's Andrew Politi closed the game out for the Spinners to record his fourth save of the season.
The Yankees return to action tomorrow as they host the Spinners for the second game of his three-game set as they look to even the series. First pitch is scheduled for 11a.m.
