Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters improved to 11-13 on the season after defeating the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 6-2 at Historic Bowman Field.
The Scrappers got on the board in the top of the first, using two hits and a Cutters error to go up 2-0. The Cutters came roaring back in their half of the first, plating three runs on four hits to take a 3-2 lead. Brock Stassi, Harold Martinez, and Cody Asche delivered RBI singles in the frame.
The Cutters tacked on a run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Kyrell Hudson to make it 4-2.
Williamsport added another run in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by Luis Unda, which increased the lead to 5-2. A sacrifice fly by Aaron Altherr made it 6-2 in the bottom of the eighth, as the Cutters increased their lead to four.
Cutters starter Colin Kleven earned his first win of the season, pitching six strong innings and striking out five.
