NORWICH, CT - The Connecticut Tigers used a 3-for-3 afternoon from Jason King, including a solo homer in the third to even up the series with the Brooklyn Cyclones, winning 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Dodd Stadium.

Edwin Gomez drew a one-out walk in the second inning and moved up to second base on a single by Colin Kaline. After Les Smith flew out, Chad Wright came threw with a two-out RBI base hit, giving the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.

Connecticut would go on top 2-0 in the third frame on a lead-off home run from King, a solo shot to right field, his second long ball of the season.

However, the Cyclones would come back to cut the deficit in the seventh inning. With the Tigers' Melvin Mercedes on the mound in relief of the starter Luis Sanz, Danny Muno drew a walk to start off the frame. He moved up to second on a groundout by Ismael Tijerina and then to third on a base hit from Javier Rodriguez. Brian Harrison then came up with an RBI infield-single to score Muno and cut the Tigers lead to 2-1.

Jeff Barfield and Daniel Bennett combined to hold the Cyclones scoreless over the final two frames and hold on to the win for Connecticut.

Luis Sanz earned his second win of the season, throwing five shutout innings, giving up just two hits and striking out four. Jeff Walters suffered the loss for Brooklyn, dropping to 1-2 on the year.

The Tigers will play the rubber match of the three-game series against the Cyclones tomorrow tonight. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM at Dodd Stadium.
