
Cutters Beat Spikes 7-0 on Friday

Williamsport Crosscutters manager Mickey Morandini earned his first professional managerial win Friday night as the Cutters defeated the State College Spikes 7-0 in front of 2,284 fans at Historic Bowman Field.
The Cutters exploded for five runs in the bottom of the third inning, highlighted by a solo home run from catcher Bob Stumpo and a three-run shot by third baseman Maikel Franco.
Williamsport tacked on another run in the fourth inning as Stumpo doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a passed ball by Spikes catcher Samuel Gonzalez.
Kyrell Hudson added some insurance in the seventh inning with an RBI double, increasing the lead to 7-0.
Cutters starting pitcher Leonel Bastidas was highly effective in his debut, allowing just four hits over six shutout innings. Reliever Gabriel Arias pitched the final three innings, giving up just two hits while striking out three and earning the save.
