Curve, SeaWolves Series Postponed In Erie

ERIE- For the third consecutive day, the Curve and Erie SeaWolves had their game at Jerry Uht Park in Erie postponed due to snowy and cold conditions. With the entire three-game series postponed, Altoona will next attempt to open its 2007 Eastern League season on Monday against the Akron Aeros at Canal Park in Akron.

Make up dates have not yet been announced for any of the postponed contests between the Curve and SeaWolves. Altoona will make two more trips to Erie, playing four games over three days from June 19-21 and visiting for the final four days of the Eastern League season August 31-September 3.

The Curve have a scheduled off day for Easter Sunday before traveling to Akron for a three-game set against the Aeros through Wednesday.

Left-hander Josh Shortslef remains the scheduled starter for Monday's contest against Akron. Wardell Starling will take the mound Tuesday and Cuban native Yoslan Herrera will make his United States pitching debut Wednesday morning at 10:35 against the Aeros.

The Home Opener at Blair County Ballpark will take place next Thursday night, April 12th, at 6:35 PM against the Reading Phillies. Ballpark gates will open at 5 PM (4:50 Curve Season Ticket Holders) for the first Curve Happy Hour event of the season, featuring live entertainment and food specials on the Toyota Party Deck. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a Curve Schedule Magnet courtesy of AIG, and following the game fans can enjoy the first of 20 spectacular post-game fireworks shows.

In addition, former Curve stars and current Pirates' pitchers Matt Capps, Tom Gorzelanny and Paul Maholm will return to Altoona to participate in a special pre-game ceremony.

Tickets for the Curve's Home Opener on Thursday, April 12th are still available and can be purchased by visiting the Blair County Ballpark Ticket Office weekdays from 9-5 and Saturdays from 10-2, by calling toll-free (877) 99-CURVE or by ordering on-line.

The Home Opener kicks off a four-game series against Reading, which runs through Sunday, April 15th. On Friday the 13th at 6:35 PM, the first 2,000 fans will take home a Curve Fleece Blanket compliments of the Central PA Convention and Visitor's Bureau. Saturday the 14th's contest against Reading starts at 5:05 PM and features another post-game fireworks extravaganza. The opening series at Blair County Ballpark concludes on Sunday the 15th at 3:05 PM with a Curve Schedule Poster Giveaway to the first 5,000 fans, plus kids run the bases following the game.
