Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve will open their home portion of the 2011 season on Thursday, April 14 with a seven-game homestand featuring four games against the Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA - San Francisco Giants) and three games against the Harrisburg Senators (AA - Washington Nationals). The homestand will run through Wednesday, April 20 and feature Opening Night Ceremonies, an autograph session with Steelers' Linebacker Lawrence Timmons and two fireworks shows.
The 2011 home opener will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and fans are encouraged to arrive early to witness a pregame celebration for the 2010 E.L. Champs and stay late as there will be a fireworks display after the game. The first 5,000 fans through the gate will receive 2011 Schedule Magnets courtesy of Altoona First Savings Bank. The pregame ceremony will feature a ring ceremony for the returning members of the 2010 championship team as well as a ceremony for the "Champions of Curve, Pa" thanks to the Altoona Mirror and Envision Laser Centers. Additionally, the home opener is a Thirsty Thursday with 16 oz. Bud Light drafts for $2.00 and regular sodas for $1.50 thanks to Rocky 104.9.
Friday night's 6:30 p.m. contest will mark the third straight year that an active member of the Pittsburgh Steelers will appear at a Curve home game as linebacker Lawrence Timmons makes his way to the ballpark. The leading tackler from last season's AFC Championship team will be on hand to throw out a first pitch as well as greet fans and sign autographs for two hours, courtesy of Peoples Natural Gas and WTAJ-TV.
On Saturday at 6:00 p.m., the Curve will host their second fireworks show of the season after the game and it will also be the first Community Collection Day of the season. Fans are encouraged to bring in toddler winter wear to benefit The Family Resource Center Toasty Toddlers Program when they come to Saturday night's game.
The first 1,000 fans through the gates on Sunday at 2 p.m. will receive a Replica Eastern League Championship Trophy courtesy of Holiday Inn Express that looks like the trophy the Curve hoisted above their heads in Trenton during the celebration last September. Sunday is also the first of eight Curve Kids' Club Days presented by Galliker's. For the first time, the Kids' Club is free and includes free tickets to eight games throughout the year for members (age 12 and under).
The homestand continues as Curve will welcome Harrisburg to town to open their three-game series beginning Monday night at 6:30 p.m. Monday marks the first Mirror Monday of the season presented by the Altoona Mirror and fans are encouraged to check the sports section of the Mirror for a special discount to that night's game.

The homestand concludes on Wednesday as the Curve host the first School Kids Day of the season which brings with it a special start time of 10:30 am.
