
Curve Lose Late Lead as B-Mets Avoid Sweep

Curve, Pa. - The Altoona Curve surrendered a late lead and dropped the finale of the weekend's three-game set, 5-3, to the Binghamton Mets on Sunday night at Peoples Natural Field.
The Mets (26-24) scored three runs in the eighth inning to take the lead and avoid being swept by the Curve (28-20).
With the Curve ahead 3-1 in the seventh, Aderlin Rodriguez hit his second solo home run of the night to pull the Mets within one run. Binghamton scored three unearned runs in the eighth inning against Yhonathan Barrios (Loss, 0-1) to take the lead, handing the Altoona right-hander his first blown save of the season.
Curve second baseman Dan Gamache put the Curve ahead 2-1 in the fourth with a two-run home run. Stetson Allie, who went 3-for-4 in the game, added a run in the seventh inning with an RBI single, making it 3-2.
Curve starter Zack Dodson provided Altoona with another strong start, going 6.2 innings, allowing six hits and two walks with five punch outs.
Binghamton reliever Matt Koch (Win, 3-2) worked a scoreless seventh inning. Paul Sewald (Save, 9) pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to close the game.
Former Curve and current New York Mets pitcher Vic Black stranded two runners on base in the eighth while making a rehab appearance.
Altoona is off on Monday but return to action on Tuesday for the first game of a three-game series against the New Britain Rock Cats at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Right-hander Chad Kuhl (3-1, 2.73) will get the start for the Curve.
It will be Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband, featuring two tickets, two hot dogs and two small popcorns for the price of one. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. and gates will open at 6.
