Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - First baseman Josh Bell continued his hot weekend as the Altoona Curve capped a three-game sweep of the Erie Seawovles with a 7-4 win on Sunday afternoon at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

The Curve (15-6) have won four straight after handing the Seawolves (6-16) their twelfth consecutive loss.

Bell went 3-for-3 with two triples and two RBIs on Sunday, finishing the three-game series 7-for-10 with a home run and 9 total RBIs.

The Curve opened the scoring in the first inning with a single by Bell that plated center fielder Keon Broxton, who finished the series with seven runs scored and had two RBIs on Sunday.

Curve starting pitcher Jason Creasy (Win, 3-0) surrendered seven hits in his six innings, but the only run against him came on an RBI triple by Erie right fielder Jeff McVaney in the fifth.

The Curve stretched the lead to 6-1 in the seventh inning thanks in part to a two-run double by Willy Garcia and an RBI single by Dan Gamache.

The insurance runs proved to be critical as the Seawolves rallied for three runs in the eighth inning against reliever Tom Harlan (Hold, 4), but Jhondaniel Medina (Hold, 2) stranded a pair of runners to end the inning. Closer Yhonathan Barrios (Save, 5) pitched a perfect ninth inning for his second save of the weekend.

The Curve begin a four-game series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Monday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Lefty Zack Dodson (1-0, 0.00) will start for the Curve, with lefty Kelvin Marte (0-0, 1.86) on the mound for Richmond.

Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit AltoonaCurve.com, call 877.99.CURVE or visit the box office at PNG Field.
