Curve Announce 2009 Schedule And Game Times
August 27, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA- The Altoona Curve today announced their schedule and home game times for the 2009 Eastern League season. The club will once again play 71 home games at Blair County Ballpark, beginning with the Home Opener on Thursday, April 16 against the Erie SeaWolves (Tigers). The Curve will open the 2009 campaign with a seven-game road trip from April 8-15 at Erie (Tigers) and Akron (Indians).
The April 16th Home Opener represents the latest date for a first game at Blair County Ballpark in the 11-year history of the franchise. This season, the Curve hosted their Home Opener on April 3rd, marking the earliest home-opening date in club history. Most noteworthy about the Curve's 2009 schedule is the fact that the club will play only seven April home dates, while hosting 31 games during a 48-day stretch from June 16-August 2.
Once again, standard weekday game times will remain 6:35 p.m. from the beginning of the season until Memorial Day weekend and 7:05 p.m. through late August. Starting with the August 25 home game vs. Trenton, weekday times will revert back to 6:35 p.m. Weekend game times will also follow the same pattern as in past seasons with pre-Memorial Day weekend Saturday games starting at 5:05 p.m. and Sundays at 3:05 p.m. Beginning May 24th, all Sunday home games will start at 6:05 p.m. and feature post-game fireworks.
There will be seven exceptions to standard game times at Blair County Ballpark during the 2009 season, including three of the Curve's popular 10:35 a.m. "School Kids Day" games (May 7 vs. Akron; May 27-28 vs. Bowie). The Memorial Day Monday game will start at 12:05 p.m., as will the July 9 contest vs. Erie. The April 22 (4:05 p.m. vs. Reading) and May 5 (5:55 vs. Akron) games will also feature special start times.
The Curve's most common opponent in 2009 will be the Erie SeaWolves (25 games), followed by Southern Division rivals Akron (24), Bowie (21) and Reading (21).
