Altoona Curve News Release

The Altoona Curve today announced a series of roster moves, which includes the official addition of 1B Steven Pearce from Class-A Lynchburg. The 24-year old Pearce enjoyed an amazing month of April in which he hit .347 (26-for-75) with 11 home runs and 24 RBI in 19 games for Lynchburg. His 11 home runs are the most among all affiliated minor league players entering Tuesday's action. An 8th round selection of the Pirates in the 2005 June Draft out of the University of South Carolina, Pearce entered the 2007 season rated by Baseball America as the Pirates' sixth-best prospect.

The addition of Pearce to the Curve roster means that four of the Pirates' top six prospects, according to Baseball America, are currently on Altoona's active roster - OF Andrew McCutchen (#1), 3B Neil Walker (#2) and RHP Yoslan Herrera (#4) are the others.

In other roster news Tuesday, C Milver Reyes has re-joined the Curve roster from Triple-A Indianapolis, C Carlos Maldonado has been re-assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis and OF Matt Meath has been placed on the Disabled List.

The Curve's active roster is at 24 players entering Tuesday night's series opener at Connecticut (AA/Giants). Tuesday's first pitch from Norwich, CT is set for 6:35 PM.
