Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Despite getting off to a sizeable lead early on, the Lookouts found themselves in need of some late-inning heroics to finally emerge as the winner in an exciting 8-7 win against Mobile in Tuesday night action at AT&T Field.

Doubles by Shaun Cumberland, Drew Anderson, and Tonys Gutierrez highlighted a three-run first inning for the Lookouts. Chattanooga's momentum carried over to the second frame, courtesy of a two-run shot off of the bat of Drew Anderson. The Lookouts found themselves with an early 5-0 lead.

Mobile, however, would mount a comeback and surmount the Lookouts' lead by the fifth inning by plating six runs off of Lookouts' starting pitcher James Avery.

The see-saw contest continued into the seventh, where Cumberland nailed a two-run shot to give the Lookouts a 7-6 edge.

The relentless BayBears, once again, tied-up the score in ninth on a Cesar Nicolas RBI double off of Josh Roenicke (3-0).

The Lookouts began the bottom portion of the ninth inning on an ominous note, as Craig Tatum proceeded to promptly strikeout. B.J. Szymanski followed with a single, but Jose Castro followed by grounding out into a force out at second. An Eric Eymann pinch hit single put Castro in scoring position at second. Shaun Cumberland, who had already collected three hits on the evening, came through in the clutch by drilling a game-winning single to left to give the Lookouts an 8-7 win.

Mobile and Chattanooga will wrap-up their five-game series, tomorrow at 11:15 AM. Tickets for this games or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
