Grand slam the difference for Jaxx

(Jackson, TN) April 23rd- Mike Wilson broke a 3-3 tie with a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning as the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx defeated the Birmingham Barons 8-4 before a Wednesday afternoon crowd of 2531 at Pringles Park. The win was the fourth in five games for the Diamond Jaxx and improves their record to 12-8 on the season.

Brodie Downs picked up the win in relief of starter Ryan Ketchner, who allowed three runs on six hits over five innings of work. Downs (1-0) allowed a run on three hits with two strikeouts over three innings. Jon Nelson, Ronnie Prettyman and Luis Valbuena had two hits each while Prentice Redman drove in a pair of runs to highlight an eight run, eleven hit attack. Over the last two games, the Diamond Jaxx have amassed twenty-three runs on twenty-seven hits.

Clevelan Santeliz allowed the grand-slam and suffered the loss for the Barons. Santeliz (0-1) allowed five runs on four hits with five walks in three innings of relief. Brian Omogrosso started the game for Birmingham, allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings. Javier Castillo had three hits and two RBI's to pace the Barons offense. Ricardo Nanita chipped in with a pair of hits and a RBI.

The Diamond Jaxx begin a ten game road trip on Thursday night in Sevierville as the Jaxx take on the Tennessee Smokies. Righty Doug Fister (3-0 1.52) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Tennessee will counter with right-hander Justin Berg (0-3 4.57).
