Iowa Cubs News Release
The Iowa Cubs swept the New Orleans Zephyrs with a 1-0 win Friday night in front of 10,371 people at Principal Park. It was a pitchers dual as just 10 hits were allowed between both teams. Iowa's Mike Burns (8-10) allowed four hits, while striking out six in eight innings of work to pick up the win. Ruddy Lugo (7-11) threw six innings for New Orleans, allowing the game's lone run. The game was scoreless until the sixth inning when Bobby Scales, who was 2-for-4, drove in Andres Blanco on a single to left field. Blanco led off the inning with a double and was 3-for-3 on the night. Michael Wuertz picked up his second save for Iowa in the one hour, fifty-one minute game. Iowa starts a 13-game roadtrip tomorrow in New Orleans before returning to Des Moines for the final regular season series August 29 against Omaha.
