(Memorial Stadium - Everett, WA) - A trio of Canadians pitchers helped shutout the Everett Aquasox 2-0 on Friday night to help move Vancouver to 6-2 (.750) on the young Northwest League season.
LHP Justin Nicolino (1-0) went five scoreless innings for his first professional win limiting a potent Aquasox offense to just one hit while striking out seven. Canadians RHP Blake McFarland followed up going 3 1/3 innings of shutout baseball before passing the ball to closer RHP Drew Permison who locked down a victory by getting Everett's SS Danny Lopez to ground into a game-ending double play.
Vancouver's offense pounded out eight hits on the night, with C Garrett Maines providing a majority of the attack.
In the top of the 3rd inning, Maines would triple to right field before coming in to count on a double off the bat of 2B Bryan Kervin who finished the night 2-for-4.
Maines would hit his second home run of the season in the top of the 7th off of Everett reliever RHP Joe DiRocco extending the Canadians lead to 2-0 which would be enough support to help Vancouver move to 6-2 on the season.
