Yakima Bears News Release
The Yakima Bears lost 5-0 to the Spokane Indians Friday night at Yakima County Stadium. The win for the Indians also gave Spokane a 2-1 series win.
Adam Kudryk took the loss in the game after a quality start. Kudryk allowed two runs in the second inning and one in the sixth for a total of three runs in a start that lasted seven innings. Kudryk has now pitched 12 innings for the Bears over two games and the Yakima offense has produced no runs in those games.
The Bears bullpen got a nice performance from Drew Zizinia in his professional debut. The just-signed pitcher retired all three batters he faced, including two on strikeouts, in a shutout inning. Justin Albert was tagged with two runs in the ninth inning, as he gave up a pair of triples and a single.
The offense for Yakima managed only three hits against Spokane starter and winning pitcher Santo Perez. The other hit came off of Jose Monegro, who tossed two scoreless innings. Thos two Indians pitchers did not walk a single Bears batter.
Both Justin Hilt and Kerry Jenkins went 1-for-3 and both Zach Jones and Raul Navarro finished 1-for-4. None of the Bears hits were extra-base hits.
The Bears fall to 2-6 on the season with Friday's loss. Saturday, the Bears start a three-game series against the Tri City Dust Devils, who dropped to 4-4 with a loss of their own on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 as lefty John Pedrotty is scheduled to start for the Bears and right-handed pitcher Tyler Gagnon is expected to start for the Dust Devils.
