September 2, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL) - Yakima Bears News Release

The Yakima Bears lost 4-1 to the Vancouver Canadians in 11 innings Saturday at Yakima County Stadium. The loss was the fourth-straight for the Bears to end the regular season, with the playoffs starting for the team on Monday.

The Bears scored in the first inning and then failed to get back on scoreboard the rest of the game. Shaun Cooper reached on a two-out walk and then scored from first on a Jacob House double. The Canadians tied the game in the fourth inning with a pair of doubles. Vancouver started the top of the eleventh with two walks and both of those runners scored on a Derrick Chung triple. Chung then scored on a wild pitch.

The loss went on Blake Forslund, who walked two and had two wild pitches to allow three runs. Before Forslund, Alex Carreras pitched five innings and four other relievers pitched five innings. That collection of previous pitchers allowed only five hits, two walks, and one run.

The Bears outhit the Canadians 9-6 in the game. Yogey Perez-Ramos went 3-for-5 with a double and Jacob House finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run batted in.

The Bears travel to Boise Sunday and will play the first playoff game Monday night. First pitch in Boise is scheduled for 6:45, making it a 5:45 start in the pacific time zone. Right-handed pitchers Blake Perry of the Bears and Pierce Johnson of the Hawks are the probable starters Monday. Fans interested in seeing the game can go to the Bears Official Viewing Party at Sports Center in downtown Yakima. The second game of the series against the Hawks is scheduled for 7:05 at Yakima County Stadium Tuesday night.
