September 2, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release
(County Stadium - Yakima, WA) - A two-run triple off the bat of Canadians 1B Derrick Chung in the top of the 11th inning helped Vancouver to a franchise record 46th win on Saturday night as the C's topped Yakima 4-1 at County Stadium.
Yakima, playing in their final regular season game in franchise history (re-locating to Hillsboro, OR in 2013), opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning as DH Jacob House would double off of Canadians starter LHP Dan Norris scoring RF Shawn Cooper (walk) to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.
It would be the only run Yakima would score on the night.
The Canadians evened the game in the top of the 4th inning when C Santiago Nessy and RF Carlos Ramirez connected on doubles off of Yakima starter LHP Alex Carreras who would not manage his 9th win of the season which would have been a Northwest League best.
Pitching took center stage for both the C's and Bears until the top of the 11th inning when Vancouver finally broke through scoring a trio of runs off of Bears reliever RHP Blake Forslund. The big blow was a two-run triple from 1B Derrick Chung that scored both CF D.J. Davis (walk) and C Santiago Nessy (walk). Chung would score seconds later on a wild pitch to make the final 4-1.
