AVON, Ohio - The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy Health, used four pitchers to toss a six-hit shutout and strike out 14 Miners on Saturday night, as they came away with a 1-0 victory over Southern Illinois at Sprenger Healthcare Stadium.

The victory for the Crushers (32-27) was their sixth since the start of the second half, while the loss for the Miners (26-29) was their fifth in their last six games.

The Crushers used the pitching combination of Micah Beyer, Luis Cohen (3-0), Seth Lucio and Logan Lombana to toss the six-hit shutout. The shutout victory was Lake Erie's eighth of the season, and the 14 strikeouts were one off a season high.

Beyer worked his way out of trouble a couple of times on the night. The Miners had runners on the corners with one out in the second, before Beyer struck out Max Dutto and induced a groundout to follow, ending the threat.

Beyer's final inning of work was his most impressive. Nolan Earley began the sixth inning with a double and advanced to third on Chance Shepard's single. With runners at the corners and nobody out, Beyer struck out the next two batters, before inducing a pop out to get out of the jam.

Lake Erie score the game's lone run in the home half of the seventh. Sean Hurley started the inning with a single to left field before stealing second base. With two outs in the inning, Bryan DeLaRosa came through with a double down the line in left to score Hurley.

Despite the strong start, Beyer did not factor into the decision. In his three starts this season, he's yet to allow an earned run and the Crushers have won all three games he's started. Beyer tossed six scoreless innings and allowed five hits while fanning 12 batters. Cohen came away with the win after tossing a scoreless seventh inning. Lucio tossed a scoreless eighth, and Lombana (3) scored the save after working a perfect ninth.

Austin Dubski (3-3) took the hard luck loss for the Miners after allowing just a run on four hits while striking out nine over 6.2 innings of work.

The Crushers had only four hits in the game, getting singles from Aaron Hill and Hurley, and doubles from DeLaRosa and Dalton Wheat. Hill has now reached safely in five straight games.

The Crushers will finish their three game series against the Southern Illinois Miners at Sprenger Healthcare Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Right-hander Justin Sinibaldi (0-2, 1.53) will get the start for the Crushers and the Miners will counter with lefty Aaron Rozek (2-2, 4.71). The first pitch is scheduled for 2:05 PM.
