Lake Erie Crushers News Release

Kalamazoo, MI - The Lake Erie Crushers lost in dramatic fashion on Thursday night in Kalamazoo as Kings first baseman Tim Brown hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the home team a 5-4 victory. The win completed a three game sweep of the Crushers at Homer Stryker Field.

The start of the game was delayed 45 minutes due to rain in the Western Michigan area. Once the action started, the Crushers bats went to work as Jodam Rivera's two run single gave Lake Erie the early lead in the second inning. The Crushers would tack on two more runs in the fifth inning after a RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Brad Griffiths, followed by an RBI single by Arden McWilliams.

The Crushers would take a 4-2 lead into the ninth inning thanks to steady starting pitching by Kevin Skogley, who allowed two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts in six innings of work. Brian Chambers added two scoreless innings of relief.

But Kalamazoo would tie the game in the ninth as Crushers reliever Jacinto Gonell allowed a sacrifice fly to Tim Brown followed by an RBI single by Brendan Murphy. The score would remain tied until Brown's walk-off shot off of Brad Davidson sent the fans at Homer Stryker Field home happy.

The Crushers now return to All Pro Freight Stadium to start a nine game homestand on Friday night as they'll play the first of three against the Washington Wild Things starting at 7:05.
