Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch could not hold down the AHL's best offensive team, as the Hershey Bears got two goals from Andrew Gordon and a goal and an assist each from Chris Bourque and Ashton Rome, defeating the Crunch by a 6-2 count tonight at the War Memorial at Oncenter.

Hershey got on the board first just 1:19 into the game on the power play after Kevin Harvey was called for kneeing at exactly the one minute mark. Gordon secured his 33rd goal of the season on Hershey's first shot of the game when he re-directed a point shot from Bourque past Lalande for the early 1-0 lead.

The Crunch bounced back and knotted the score about five and a half minutes later when Dan Fritsche took a pass from Tomas Kana and charged in down the right wing. The Parma, Ohio native connected on a one-timer with Tom Sestito, who was charging hard to the net and put a shot over the shoulder of Jason Bacashihua to make it a 1-1 contest.

Jay Beagle put Hershey back up in the game when he roofed a centering feed from a Grant Lewis behind-the-back pass over the glove of Lalande to make it 2-1 at the 9:26 mark of the second.

Bourque put Hershey up 3-1 on the power play when he danced around at the point and threw a wrister on goal that squeezed through the pads of Lalande with just over two minutes to go in the second.

Ashton Rome, brother of former Crunch defenseman Aaron Rome, cashed in on a pass from Francois Bouchard three minutes into the second to make it 4-1.

The Crunch cut it to 4-2 when Chad Kolarik found a wide open Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman, who snuck behind the defense. LaVallee-Smotherman rifled a shot camped out at the bottom of the right face off dot past Bacashihua at the 8:25 mark.

That was all the offense the Crunch could muster, as Hershey added goals from Kyle Wilson with eight minutes left and Gordon picked up his second of the contest and 34th of the season with just over two minutes to play in regulation to make it a 6-2 final.
