Crunch Announce Roster Moves

Syracuse, NY (October 9, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled right wing Derek Dorsett and reassigned defenseman Trevor Hendrikx and right wing Petr Pohl to Johnstown (ECHL).

In addition, the Crunch have loaned center Ryan Garlock to Johnstown.

Dorsett, 21, appeared in 64 games for the Crunch last season, tallying 10 goals, eight assists and 289 penalty minutes. A native of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Dorsett was drafted by Columbus in the seventh round, 189th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Hendrikx, 23, appeared in 72 games for Elmira (ECHL) last season, registering eight goals, 23 assists and 170 penalty minutes. A native of Russell, Ontario, Hendrikx was drafted by Columbus in the seventh round, 201st overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Pohl, 22, appeared in two games with the Crunch last season. He also appeared in seven games with Dayton (ECHL) last year, registering one goal and eight assists. He also skated in 56 games for Youngstown (CHL) last season, recording 24 goals, 41 assists and 28 penalty minutes. A native of Prostejov, Czech Republic, Pohl was drafted by Columbus in the fifth round, 133rd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Garlock, 22, appeared in 51 games for Johnstown last season, piling up 26 goals, 35 assists and 61 penalty minutes. He also skated in 14 combined American Hockey League games with Binghamton, Hershey and Springfield, recording three assists and 10 penalty minutes.

The Crunch open their 15th AHL season with a home-and-home series against their I-90 rivals, the Rochester Americans. The teams will face-off at the Blue Cross Arena on Friday, October 10, followed by the Crunch's home opener at the War Memorial at Oncenter on Saturday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. Season and single-game tickets are available by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473-4444.
