Atlantic City Surf News Release
Atlantic City Surf southpaw Jim Crowell cranked up his best game of the season to lead the Surf to a 4-2 victory over the Camden Riversharks Tuesday night at the Sandcastle. Crowell worked seven innings and only allowed one hit while striking out nine and walking three.
Atlantic City got a two-run homer from Garry Lee Maddox and a solos shot from Jose Velasquez and never looked back to take a 6-4 lead in the Atlantic City Expressway Series and pull to within a half-game of first place in the South Division of the Atlantic League. Atlantic City also got an RBI from Pete Incaviglia before a charged up crowd of 2425.
Trailing 4-0 in the ninth, the Riversharks got two runs off Mark Rutherford but Surf supercloser Craig Mattson got Lipso Nava to fly out with the tying runs on second and third to pick up his 20th save of the season.
Atlantic City is now 12-6 in the second half; Camden is 13-6. The two teams meet again Wednesday night when David Carroll(2-2) goes against Kevin Dougherty (2-1).
