Little Falls, NJ - Joel Bennett (11-1) tossed a complete game three hit shutout to help the New Jersey Jackals beat the Adirondack Lumberjacks, 1-0, Tuesday night at Yogi Berra Stadium.
Bennett's 11th victory, his 10th consecutive win, sets a new franchise mark for wins in a season. The all-star ace also pitched his league leading fifth complete game. Bennett walked four and punched out seven, bringing his strikeout total to 115. He has 39 more strikeouts than the second leading pitcher in the league.
Derek Santiago (7-5) suffered the loss despite a solid pitching performance. He pitched eight innings, allowing only one run on five hits while walking one and striking out three.
New Jersey broke the scoreless tie in the 6th inning by pushing a run across on two hits. Travis Bailey collected his second hit of the game and then stole second base. Mikaela Dworken singled him home.
The Jackals have now won seven in a row and 15 out of their last 16 games.
