HARLINGEN - United League Baseball's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced before Friday's game that starting pitcher David Cross (6-3, 200, Virginia Tech) is the Johnny's True Value Most Valuable Player for the Month of August.
In August, Cross was 2-0 with a 2.75 ERA. In five starts, Cross pitched 39.1 innings, allowing 37 hits and 11 walks while striking out 22. Opponents hit .253 against Cross.
Cross pitched a complete game on August 8, allowing one run on six hits and four walks while striking out seven in a 6-1 home victory over the San Angelo Colts.
