San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, TX - In a whirlwind of moves heading into the regular season's final weekend, the San Angelo Colts activated second-baseman Mark Ramos from the inactive list today. Just last week, Ramos had been inactivated after straining an abdominal muscle on August 18 against Edinburg. The East Moline, IL native has had an outstanding rookie season batting .303 with a homer and 28 RBI in 71 games.
With the activation of Ramos, the Colts inactivated outfielder Isaac Garcia. In 38 games the former Angelo State Ram had batted .265 with five homers and 18 RBI after being signed by San Angelo on July 14.
In other news, the Colts signed outfielder Steven Rinaudo yesterday. Rinaudo wound up playing in the second game of last night's doubleheader, going 0-1 in his lone plate appearance. A Sacromento, CA native, Rinaudo was drafted as a shortstop out of high school by the Kansas City Royals in 2005. He turned down professional baseball to play collegiately at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) where he lettered for two seasons. While with the Rebels, Rinaudo saw action as a reliever and spot starter. In 2008, he went 0-4 with an 8.28 ERA while appearing in 18 games, seven as a starter, and recording a save.
To make room for Rinaudo, the Colts temporarily inactivated starting pitcher Ezequiel Astacio. Astacio is 6-8 this season with a 5.80 ERA in 19 games, 18 as a starter.
The Colts and Thunder will wrap-up their four-game series on Friday with first-pitch slated for 7:05 as the Colts look to take three of four games. Brian Henschel (6-8, 6.06 ERA) will pitch for the Colts against southpaw Luis Martinez (1-2, 4.80 ERA) of the Thunder. Friday is also Youth Glove Giveaway Night presented by Concho Valley Partnership as fans 12-and-under will receive a free baseball mitt as they enter the gate. The broadcast of the game begins with the Kemps Pregame Show at 5:50, and can be heard on 1260 KKSA.
