June 30, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Midfielder Cristian Parano has exercised an opt-out clause in his contract, and has departed San Antonio FC.
"We are pleased to have identified Cristian back in 2019 and am personally grateful to have had the opportunity to coach Cristian, and see him grow both as a player and a person," said head coach Alen Marcina. "We will cherish the many great moments Cristian brought to the team and city, including the championship in 2022. We wish him the very best moving forward."
Parano appeared in 11 matches with SAFC this season, scoring twice. Over four seasons in San Antonio, Parano scored 14 goals, assisted 13 times and helped the team win the USL Championship Title last season for the first time in club history.
The 13 assists rank as the second-most in club history, and his 14 goals are tied for fourth. In 2019, his first year with the club, the Argentine was named USL Championship Young Player of the Year after tallying seven goals and six assists. After the 2020 season, Parano joined F.C. Pacos De Ferreira in Portugal's top flight before being loaned to PAE Chania in the Greek Super League 2.
SAFC is at home tomorrow, hosting Birmingham Legion FC at Toyota Field. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. PT, with tickets still available at SanAntonioFC.com or the SAFC app. Additionally, the match will be broadcast locally on Bally Sports Southwest or nationally on ESPN+.
