Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

For the second time in February, the Waterloo Black Hawks allowed eight goals to an opponent, falling to the Lincoln Stars 8-3 in Lincoln Tuesday.

Eric Alexander and Garrett Peterson scored in the opening period. Corey Chakeen, Ross Henry, and Peterson a second time pushed the lead to 5-0 by 10:19 of the second. Ben Miller and Jordan Samuels-Thomas found the net 53 seconds apart with under four minutes remaining in the middle frame, leaving Waterloo down by just two at the second intermission.

However, Garrett Vermeersch, Kirt Hill, and Kory Kaunisto all scored before the Black Hawks dented the net again. With 1:45 remaining, Tyler Barnes cut the deficit back to five with the final tally of the night.

The Hawks get a chance to redeem themselves against Lincoln Saturday at Young Arena. Before that, Waterloo travels to Chicago to face the Steel Friday.
