CHARLESTON, WV - The Hickory Crawdads recorded their eighth shutout win of the season, 6-0, against the West Virginia Power before 3,977 fans at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, WV on Friday night.

Hickory LHP Will Lamb (W, 5-8) dealt the first five scoreless frames, striking out two and scattering just three hits. RHP Taylor Dennis picked up right where Lamb left off in the sixth and tossed three shutout innings, before RHP Coby Cowgill struck out a pair in the scoreless bottom of the ninth against the Power (33-28, 56-75).

The Crawdads (34-27, 70-60) struck first right away in the top of the first inning. SS Luis Sardinas started the game with a lead-off single, before moving to second base on a ground out. After a strike out, CF Zach Cone lined an RBI single to left field, lifting Hickory ahead, 1-0.

The 'Dads pulled away with three more tallies in the top of the fifth. 3B Drew Robinson reached base on an error to start the inning, and then quickly took second on a sacrifice bunt by RF Jordan Akins. LF Hirotoshi Onaka followed with a base hit, putting runners at the corners. SS Luis Sardinas then bounced a grounder to SS Alen Hanson. With Robinson scoring on the ground ball, Hanson tried to retire Onaka at second, but threw wide of the base. The errant throw carried all the way down the right field line, enabling Onaka to come all the way home and Sardinas to race to third on the error. After a hit batter and a walk loaded the bases, Cone placed an RBI ground out to first base, bringing home Sardinas for the 4-0 lead.

Hickory quickly tacked on another run to the advantage against LHP Porfirio Lopez in the top of the sixth. On the first pitch of the frame, 1B Jorge Alfaro unloaded a solo home run to straightaway center field, stretching the lead to 5-0.

The 'Dads put on the finishing touch with an unearned run in the top of the ninth inning, before Cowgill logged the scoreless bottom of the ninth to close the 6-0 shutout win for Hickory.
